The dog that helped change my life is turning 8 tomorrow and I’m saying: Best wishes and many more!

Reilly
Reilly not only taught me to be a pack leader but inspired my new book, which is pretty heavy lifting for a dog — although a very smart and talented one. But she was up to the task. As I write in the book, the way she was raised with her birth pack helped make her a balanced, hierarchy-savvy dog who was very willing to accept a new pack leader. (Once I figured out how to behave as a pack leader!)
Being around her made me realize I had to step up and be a calm, confident, balanced person so that she felt safe and secure. My insecurities had to take a back seat once I had the responsibility to care for a pack member. When I saw how much any emotional weakness on my part directly influenced her, I quickly gave up my insecurities and fears. I HAD to be the pack leader and I was proud to do that so that she could have a happier, healthier life. And the great thing is this whole process made me a happier, healthier person.
Happy birthday, Reilly!
